Q: How do I create a Web App?

To create the Visual Bookmark go to www.getjar.com and open a free developer account. Then go to Products as if adding an application to GetJar. But in the drop down list when asked to specify the Platform for the “application” instead specify “Mobile Web Application, WML/xHTML Site”, add the URL, a small graphic, a description of the service, and follow the instructions from there.

After the mobile web app developer submits this information, within 24 hours GetJar will produce a java application that is already ported to most handsets: the Visual Bookmark. We also create a Product Page for the Visual Bookmark, from which the public can download the bookmark. The Visual Bookmark is available on GetJar for download by our total subscriber base and on partner channels.

Today we offer java Visual Bookmarks that are suitable for most feature phones, Symbian phones, BlackBerry phones, and some Palm and Windows Mobile Phones. In the future we may offer Visual Bookmarks that are built in native Symbian, Windows Mobile, Flash Lite, Palm and other formats.
