Q: How do I create a Mobile Site shortcut?

To create a Mobile Site shortcut go to www.getjar.com and open a free developer account. Then go to Products as if adding an application to GetJar. But in the drop down list when asked to specify the Platform for the “application” instead specify “Mobile Web Application, WML/xHTML Site”, add the URL, a small graphic, a description of the service, and follow the instructions from there. After the Mobile Site shortcut developer submits this information, within 24 hours GetJar will produce a java application that is already ported to most handsets: the Mobile Site shortcut. You will also need to create a product page (as if it were a mobile application), from which the public can download the Web App. This product page should contain a brief description of your site, it's core benefits and points of difference vs. competitors.  We encourage to make the product page as graphically rich and attractive as possible.  Good examples of successful Mobile Site shortcut product pages includes:

The Mobile Site shortcut is available on GetJar for download by our total subscriber base and on partner channels. Today we offer java Mobile Site shortcuts that are suitable for most feature phones, Symbian phones, BlackBerry phones, and some Palm and Windows Mobile Phones. In the future we may offer Mobile Site shortcuts that are built in native Symbian, Windows Mobile, Flash Lite, Palm and other formats.
